Systems Incorporated 2008
- Designed and prototyped a “farm”
design to allow custom applications to share a third party application ( DaejaViewer
) instead of having Daeja installed locally. This
achieved a one time saving of $920K savings and annual savings of $184K.
- Eliminated
the need for HR to manually build a monthly staff list. Built a web part
to create the staff list based on the current date using employee data
stored in a SharePoint list.
- Built a
Microsoft Office SharePoint Server ( MOSS ) 2007/ Windows SharePoint
Server (WSS) 3.0 development server to compare the differences between the
existing WSS2 servers. This environment also used new features, such as
MOSS’s advanced search capabilities to extend searches into ZIP, PDF and
MS Office files, MOSS/ SQL Reporting Services integration for BI
applications. This also gave managers the
ability to view their production web sites in the new environment. Built the new production SharePoint environment
and migrated the existing content.
- Automated the Daily Service Review by creating a .Net
web application that collected previous days Incidents, Changes from the
BMC Service Desk Express (SDE) application and upcoming Production
Releases and Customer Visits from SharePoint. This increased technician
productivity 13% by saving an hour per day.
- Designed and developed web application that mined the
database in the OCS NG application, allowing management to track purchased
licenses against installed licenses to assure software licensing
compliance.
- Designed and developed a web
application to display the monthly disk usage on the corporate servers by
mining information stored in the SolarWinds™ database.
- Developed a SQL query to show monthly
warehouse activity and total storage for each customer, using the O’Neil
RS-SQL database as the data source.
Architecture
Specialist,
Computer Science Corporation 2002 -2008
- Collaborated
on the architecture of connectors to allow the EAI (Enterprise Application
Infrastructure) system to pass ticket requests between Helpdesks using
dissimilar products (Remedy and Unicenter). Designed and developed Perl
scripts to allow a password reset application (PSynch) to create USD
tickets through EAI. The project and team members were selected for
SEI/CMM level 3 certification.
- Developed
a Perl scripting interface to allow a CA Unicenter Service Desk
application and a Remedy Helpdesk application to share ticket data between
the two systems. The Perl script interfaced between the Remedy Helpdesk
and the EAI system. This became a regression test tool for upgrades to
corporate helpdesk.
- Member of
a team integrating monitoring systems (NNM, OVO, and SiteScope) and
application databases into a proprietary tool (Formula) to give external
customers a web portal based view of the company’s applications. This eliminated
customer complaints regarding application availability.
- Reduced the time required by
the Project Management Office to aggregate the weekly data from three days
to several minutes. Created .Net applications that imported and
transformed the Excel data into a SQL server database. Data volume
constraints were removed and monthly bills and reports were generated
automatically from the web. Project Managers also had the ability to
monitor their project hours using the web site.
Senior
Application Consultant, Dun & Bradstreet 1988 –
2002
- Eliminated the need for
consultants and shrank the development team by 33%. Identified and
purchased off-the-shelf migration packages for Remedy. It also allowed new
development to be rolled out with minimal impact to the end users.
- Saved $500K in new Remedy licenses.
Developed an archive process for the service delivery database. This process saved an
additional $75K in annual maintenance.
- Created a way for the Change Review Board to see the
applications that could be impacted on either side of a change by
leveraging Remedy’s Asset Tracking application, VB and Visio to develop a
Configuration Management System to make impact analysis assessments more
accurate for the Change Review Board.
- Enabled a five person project management team to manage
2514 projects globally. Proposed that the project data be collected
through a web front end and stored in a database instead of using Word
documents. Initially developed for the US, the system was eventually used in the US, Canada, Australia and Europe. The data was used to load and
update a project plan for D&B using ABT Repository. Created additional
applications to generate Visio diagrams from this information. Achieved
corporate Leadership Award.
·
Estimated IT projects using
Function Point counting and the estimating tool Knowledge Plan. Developed
several tools to automate this process using VB, Access and Excel.
·
Reduced Service Reps time on call
by eliminating the time to look up customer information, increasing
productivity. Built a CIT/CSTA application that used the caller-id to find the
customer data and automatically present the information to the service rep.
·
Project leader responsible for the
redesign/upgrade of a CICS based application (Credit Clearing House).
Integrated the CICS system with an Expert System designed to generate/update
credit scores.
